When working with film photography, that truth leaps out and captures what is real.
I love shooting on film, there’s something so soft and gentle about it. A quietness descends for moments at a time and everything feels warm and beautiful.
But it also frightens me.
I know that the photographs will come back and they will be me – raw and real and untouched. That scares me, because I have a heavy hand of self criticism.
I think that’s why it’s important for me to continue to do shoots like these – to create a comfortability with myself, and send a message to others to try and do the same.
